FOM Revision Acknowledgment

The Parks College Flight Operations Manual has been revised as follows:

1.1.1. When surface temperatures are at or below 0°C:

1.1.1.1. Avoid extended power-off operations.

1.1.1.2. All flights must carry a winter survival kit onboard the aircraft. Survival kits are available for checkout at Dispatch. One kit will be issued to a crew of one or two persons. If there are more than two persons on board the airplane, an additional kit will be checked out and taken on the flight. The survival kit shall be returned to Dispatch at the end of the flight.

1.1.2. When surface temperatures are at or below –5°C:

1.1.2.1. All aircraft to be operated must either be pre-heated, have flown within the previous hour, or have been removed from a heated hangar within the previous hour.

1.1.3. When surface temperatures are at or below –10°C:

1.1.3.1. Unless otherwise approved by the Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor, no solo flight will be conducted in any training aircraft.

1.1.3.2. Unless otherwise approved by the Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor, aircraft preheating is not authorized. All aircraft to be operated must have either flown within the previous hour or have been removed from a heated hangar within the previous hour.

1.1.3.3. Unless otherwise approved by the Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor, cross-country operations are not authorized.

1.1.4. When surface temperatures are at or below –15°C:

1.1.4.1. Unless otherwise approved by the Chief or Assistant Chief Instructor, no flights will be conducted in any training aircraft.
